Fascia!

In both Rebalancing bodywork and in Yin Yoga , we work with the fascia – the connective tissue. Even when we work with the Singing bowl , we work with fascia, as the vibrations travel through this water rich connective tissue. Research on fascia continues to reveal wondrous properties and functions of this underestimated aspect of our anatomy.

I often get questions about fascia in connection with the experiences of clients and participants in my yin yoga classes. I always enjoy sharing what I know, and it can be really helpful to have down-to-earth examples! Do you want to have a deeper understanding of fascia and why it matters? Then the following e-book offers a good and accessibly written overview of what we now know about fascia:

Why Fascia Matters” by Brooke Thomas

Brooke Thomas calls herself a “body nerd” (I can definitely relate!) – with a background in bodywork she has developed a passion for anatomy, and especially for fascia.

Brooke Thomas sums it up in her own words:

“The ebook Why Fascia Matters is kind of like a top ten list of how this tissue system impacts, well,  anyone who is living in a body. I wrote it in the hopes of helping people to better understand their bodies from a more whole (i.e. unified organism) perspective, rather than the factory model, parts-based perspective that we primarily operate from, and this took the form of “translating” some of the current fascial research.”

Enjoy the read! And feel free to share, as long as you respect the conditions explained in the ebook.

“This ebook is kind of like a top ten list of how this tissue system impacts, well, anyone who is living in a body. I wrote it in the hopes of helping people to better understand their bodies from a more whole (i.e. unified organism) perspective, rather than the factory model, parts-based perspective that we primarily operate from, and this took the form of “translating” some of the current fascial research.”
